Pocket Monsters, Green and Blue Versions (Japan)

In Japan, Pokémon was first known as Pocket Monsters Green and Pocket Monsters Blue, while in the U.S. it was known as Pokémon Red Version and Pokémon Blue Version. However, the U.S. game Pokémon Blue Version is mostly the same as same as Pocket Monsters Green. In Japan, the third release, Pocket Monsters Blue, was quite unique in comparison to Pocket Monsters Red and Pocket Monsters Green, and also different from the English versions, as well.
What’s so different about Pocket Monsters Blue? Well, one change was that all of the Pokémon had been redone to look better. Another was that Pokémon could be found in places that they originally weren’t in Pocket Monsters Red and Pocket Monsters Green. Ditto was added to the Rock Tunnel and Lickitung could be caught in the wild. Also, Cerulean Cave was totally redone, with an all new layout. (The redone Pokémon and the new layout were also used for the English versions of the game.)
Pocket Monsters Blue was only available for a limited time, through mail order.
