Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green - Notes
Tips
- When encountering a wild Pokémon, check below that Pokémon’s name. If you see a Pokball icon, it means you already have that Pokémon in your Pokédex.
- You can switch the order of attacks in battle. Simply select an attack and press SELECT.
- If you buy 10 or more Poké Balls at once in a Pokémon Mart, you will also receive a Premier Ball.
- When moving Pokémon in Boxes, press the Select button. This turns the hand yellow and makes it very convenient to move Pokémon because no menu opens.
- The move Sweet Scent lures wild Pokémon to you when used outside of battle. An Oddish or Bellsprout can learn this move. Using Sweet Scent, you can go to the Safari Zone, stay in one spot, and attract Pokémon for as long as you want. (Repel has no effect on which Pokémon appear this way.)
Walkthrough
Follow the walkthrough for Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow, but note these differences.
- After you receive the Pokédex, you will also receive five PokeBalls.
- After talking to the old man in Viridian City, you will get a Teachy TV, a device used to teach novice trainers important Pokémon concepts.
- When trying to go east of Pewter City, after defeating Brock, a scientist stops you and gives you Running Shoes. Press B while moving to run quickly.
- After you defeat Gary north of Celadon City, he will give you a Fame Checker, which recalls information about important people in the region.
- Visit the Vermilion City Pokémon Center to get a VS Seeker, which allows you to find trainers near you who are willing to battle you again. The battery charges while you walk.
- In Celadon City, visit the building known as Celadon Manor. At the first floor, an old man will give you Tea, a hot drink which you can give to the guards in Saffron City.
- You can find the Move Deleter in Fuchsia City, who will remove an unneeded move, even those from HMs, from a Pokémon.
Daisy’s Grooming
Visit Daisy in Pallet Town and she will groom one of your Pokémon to make it happier. This service is available again after you walk 500 steps. You can also visit Daisy to check the friendship of the first Pokémon in your party.
