Pokémon Red Version, Blue Version, and Yellow Version - Walkthrough - Cerulean City
This information might be useful when playing Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version, too.
Cerulean City"A Mysterious, Blue Aura Surrounds It"
Cerulean City is another city you’ll find in the game. As in every city you go to, buy items from the Pokémon Mart and heal your Pokémon in the Pokémon Center. Unique in Cerulean City is the bike shop, but unfortunately, the bicycles are pretty expensive there.
Routes 24 and 25
Before you can proceed north, Gary arrives and shows you his new Pokémon. Defeat him, heal your Pokémon, and continue through the route.
Route 24 is nicknamed Nugget Bridge, because if you defeat 5
trainers on the bridge, you win a Nugget. The Nugget is useless on
its own, but you can get 5000 by selling it. After defeating the fifth trainer, the
last man on the bridge gives you the Nugget, and asks you to join
Team Rocket and challenges you to a battle. When you defeat the
Rocket member, which it turns out to be, he lets you pass. Continue
on east.
Chaa!
In Pokémon Yellow Version, at the foot of the bridge, talk to the man (whose name is Damien) to get a Charmander at Level 10. |
Simply make your way through the gym.
Finally, you’ll meet Misty.
Misty - The Tomboyish Mermaid L16 Staryu L21 Starmie Now it’s time to use Pikachu for Misty. If you have Bulbasaur, use it too! |
Upon defeating Misty, you’ll receive the Cascadebadge, which
forces all Pokémon up to level 30 to obey you, even
Pokémon received from trainers (outsiders) and allows you to
use Cut outside of battle. You’ll also receive TM11
(Bubblebeam).
.
Buba! Bubazaar!
In Pokémon Yellow Version, go the house to the left of the Pokémon Center, and talk to the girl (whose name is Melanie) to get a Bulbasaur at Level 10. Make sure your Pikachu is very happy and healthy (at least Level 20), and that Pikachu is the first Pokémon on your list.

As soon as you get the ticket, the officer has moved away from the door of the house, allowing you to enter it. When you enter it, you can tell it’s a mess.
Team Rocket has been behind this deed by Digging their way
into trouble, and their way out of the house. The Rockets have
fortunately dug out a back door. Leave the house through this back
door, and you’ll notice a man looking around. Try to get past him,
and he’ll want to fight. When you defeat him (you’ll find out he’s
a Team Rocket member), he’ll drop TM28 (Dig). You can use Dig when
you’re not in battle to dig your way into the last Pokémon
Center you visited. Save it for later.
Go through the path to Route 5. Go down the middle of the path until you reach a house. Talk to the man in the house.
The man in the house runs a Daycare and will take care of one
of your Pokémon for you.
When you ask for the Pokémon back, the man
charges a fee of |
Since you can’t go any further south, go to the house on the lower-right corner. This is an Underground Path that takes you south to Vermilion City. You can find items on the Underground Path if you follow the directions below. Note that you should stand on the staircase before walking.
To find a Full Restore, walk one step left from the top staircase and press A. To find X Special, take seven steps up from the bottom staircase, walk one step right, and press A. |
When you’re on the other side of the path, just go south. You may encounter some trainers along the way. Continue walking until you reach Vermilion City.
