Pokémon Red Version, Blue Version, and Yellow Version - Walkthrough - Cinnabar Island
This information might be useful when playing Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version, too.
"The Fiery Town of Burning Desire"
In Cinnabar Island, go to the Pokémon Lab and enter the farthest door. Talk to the scientist near the machine to resurrect Pokémon with the fossils you have. Here is what you can get:
Old Amber --> #142 Aerodactyl Helix Fossil --> #138 Omanyte Dome Fossil --> #140 Kabuto
It will take some time to create the Pokémon, but all you’ll have to do is exit the lab and enter it again. When you return, your Pokémon has been resurrected from its fossil.
There are several people in the lab who want to trade Pokémon.
The door leading to the Cinnabar Gym is locked, so you can’t enter it right away. Go to the northwest building, which is called the Pokémon Mansion.
The Pokémon Mansion has been taken over by Pokémon. This building can be a little confusing. Here’s a simple way to get around it:
When you enter, go up and enter the stairs. On the second floor, activate the switch nearby on the statue. Then enter the room that’s north of you. Then go up the stairs. From there, there is another statue with a switch. Hit that and go into the lower room. Leap off the lower-left ledge. You’ll land on the first floor. In that room, there is another flight of stairs. Go down them to enter the basement. In the room to your left, activate the switch there and enter the hallway north of the stairs. Keep going through to find the Secret Key at the end. You may now leave the building. The key you found allows you to enter the gym.
The leader of this gym is Blaine. Blaine’s gym is blocked by six doors. They open by defeating a trainer, or by answering a quiz question correctly. To get your quiz question, talk to the machine by the door. Here are the answers to all the questions in the quiz:
- Caterpie evolves into Butterfree? (Yes)
- There are 9 certified Pokémon League Badges? (No; there are only 8)
- Poliwag evolves 3 times? (No; only twice)
- Are thunder moves effective against ground element-type Pokémon? (No)
- Pokémon of the same kind and level are not identical? (Yes)

Finally, you’ll meet Blaine.
