Pokémon Stadium is a game that involves Pokémon battles in 3D. Along with the 3D battle, which is the main point of the game, there are a few mini games. Pokémon Stadium comes with a Transfer Pak. Place the Transfer Pak into a controller, and place a Pokémon Red Version and Pokémon Blue Version game inside the transfer pack. Then you will be able to transfer the Pokémon in your Pokémon Red Version and Pokémon Blue Version game to Pokémon Stadium for a battle.

When you start the game, after the title screen, you’ll be given these options:

Battle Now!

In this mode, you get to battle with one or two players using Pokémon chosen by the CPU. This is the choice for those who want a quick Pokémon battle.
Event Battle
This is a two-player mode. This is a mode where you battle your friends, with the rules according to the rules in the cups of the game. Each player will have a Pokémon Game Boy game and a separate controller. This battle is a 6 vs. 6 Pokémon Battle.
Gallery
This is where you can snap pictures of Pokémon. You can print out your pictures at any Pokémon Snap station in your local Blockbuster Video.
Stadium
This is where the battling takes place. You can battle your Pokémon in four different cups, or tournaments:

Gym Leader Castle
Here, you’ll have 38 battles against the Gym Leaders of the Pokémon Game Boy games.
Free Battle
This mode is where you are in a free-for-all battle. You can play against the computer or you can play with your friends. It can also be a tag-team match where two people can team up to face the computer or Two people vs. Two people. You can play by the rules of the cups or you can go for the ANYTHING GOES match rules.
Kids Club
For a break from battling you can try one of the nine minigames found here. The games are for one to four players.
Pokémon Lab
This is where Professor Oak is. Here you’ll be able to organize your Pokémon from your game paks, trade Pokémon, and look at Pokédex entries.
Victory Palace
Statues of the Pokémon that have won are placed here.
GB Tower
Here you can play your Game Boy Pokémon games on your TV.
